THIS IS A FIRST DAY OF USE REVIEW. I’M NOT OUT OF EXPRESS GATE/SPLASHTOP YET. MAY NOT GET OUT OF IT EITHER! BOOTS IN ABOUT 6 SECONDS BY MY COUNT. IT’S LINUX BY GOLLY!
NO VIRUS, SPYWARE AND KEY LOGGERS TO WORRY ABOUT. SPLASHTOP IS EXCELLENT ENOUGH
FOR WHAT I DO EVERY DAY.
AS FOR THE 1001P IT’S A NETBOOK. IT’S SMALL AND HEAVIER THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE.
BUILD QUALITY IS SUPERB. SCREEN CLARITY IS OK TOO.
I PLUGGED IN A LOGITECH V220 WIRELESS MOUSE AND IT WORKS! HAVEN’T TRIED A PRINTER YET.
THE ONE WEAK POINT IS THE PLUG FOR THE CHARGER. IT’S VERY SMALL. LOOKS LIKE IT WOULD BE SIMPLE TO BREAK.
I PLOT TO USE A BAGGY FOR THE 1001P WHEN I PLACE IT INTO THE TIMBUK2 CASE I HAVE FOR IT.
I PLACE 2GB OF MEMORY IN IT. I CAN’T TELL A DIFFERENCE…
I’M TYPING THIS REVIEW ON IT.
I PLACE AN 8GB SDHC CARD IN TOO. I’VE DOWNLOADED SOME WINDOWS STUFF TO IT.

I received ASUS netbook and charged it for 8 hours before turning it on. Did 2GB upgrade. Started having issues with it freezing up while shutting down and had to pull the battery to get it to turn off several times. Noticed the battery was 100% and showed 7 hours run time. Now after three days of use 100% is only 5 hours 3 minutes run time. Definately a problem here. Next problem is the screen freezing and going fuzzy with alot of horizontal lines whenever I switch to electric while using. Have to pull the battery again to get it to shut off. I’m sending this thing back…too many headaches.

I bought this netbook because my husband and my best friend both have Asus netbooks and like them. I was excited about this particular model because it is a newer model and has a lot of fantastic features. Unfortunately though, the keyboard was a deal breaker for me. The minute I started typing on it, it felt spongy and cheap. The whole left side of the keyboard went with each keystroke. I thought perhaps it was just the machine I had received and considered exchanging it, but I read a few reviews online that mentioned a similar problem. The store from which I bought it did not have a floor model and I reckon my mistake was buying it sight unseen. Although I wasn’t thrilled with this model, I reckon Asus makes fantastic products and I would encourage buyers to look at the many different netbooks they offer–I chose on the 1005HAB and like it.

This netbook is adequate. It does what it claims to do… mostly. The battery is not really all that it is cracked up to be. I get an honest 6 hours out of it, which is excellent, but it is no where near 11. Like other have said the keyboard is chincy and the screen is not easily usable in the sunlight. But, for the price, this makes a fantastic small brother to a excellent notebook or desktop. It is the perfect size for portability and is very user friendly. I have only had it a while, as it has only been available for sale for a small time, so I can not say anything for its durability. If you plot on using it as a netbook, the 1 gig of ram is excellent enough.

I like this small netbook. It is small,but with the new Intel Atom N450 chip it has fantastic battery life. We bought it primarily to take on trips, but have found it is also very convenient to use around the house. Just got back from a cruise and can say that it travels well. Nice and light and simple to carry in a backpack through airports, etc. All in all a very nice product.Asus Eee PC 1001P-MU17-BK 10.1-Inch Intel Atom Netbook Computer (Black)
